New beginnings

Ok, time to give all you who insist on me writing a word or two about how I’m doing a place where you can read it.

I’m gradually moving on to the “real life”, two years after my RTW trip/exchange in Chile the education is finally starting to be wrapped up. I was lazy to write anything these past two years as there seemed always so much to do (or, maybe it was just me making myself think so).

Most recently, I took a one-month “graduation trip” with my girlfriend Johanna. We backpacked around SE Asia, maybe I’ll drop a line or two about that great trip here later. I’ve got dozens of breathtakers in my camera, at the very least.

Studies are -this time REALLY- at their end. I returned my thesis just before the big trip but now that I read it again it had some serious flaws that I left there in the hurry to get it done. Still waiting for the grade with moderate fear of what is to come.. There is one course left (Economics, basic course, one of the most elementary courses in my degree) before the actual graduation. Being overly confident in February when I last made that exam they sent me back to the drawing board with it so I eventually missed the graduation time at the end of May. Oh well, September is also an ok month to celebrate it. :)

Since January I’ve worked on the project surged from the need to create one student union for the upcoming university (in Helsinki area they are making a national pilot combining Arts, Business and Technology into one university). I decided to go on in the project at least until the end of the year as then the main torments (oh yes, it is not just agreeing with one another) should be past KY. The main difference being that I will not be giving all my free time to KY so it is actually very refreshing to think I can start to do something totally new on my free time. Past seven years I’ve more or less given to the student union, at least in semester time. This summer I’m looking forward to playing at least 20 rounds of golf.

In addition, as the summer starts and plans progress a bit, we are looking for a flat to buy together with Johanna. So that is another change. Lots to look for in the next few months, with the one single main effort to be made on a damn economics exam..

Anyway, from now on I’m planning to drop a few lines every month and add stuff from all our trips, starting with the one we just did. At the moment I’m planning a short trip through some European countries during the summer and building effort to launch a big trip to the Caribbean and the Central America at the end of the year. But, we’ll see what’s up with that as it is indeed hard to see where I’ll be headed in the fall. It did not help my decision-making that I held a short, three-day lecture series at the ITP program and absolutely loved doing it. Then again, doing a half-ass job on the thesis finalization might solve that problem (the option of maybe continuing my studies to become a professor one day) on my behalf as with poor grades I can forget it.

What is great about this situation is that for the first time in a while I feel like there are ample options ahead. Anyone have any interesting jobs to offer in Central/Southern Europe for example? ;)
